Project Description

These amusing tin cans symbolize a 19th century revolution that impacted our nation.  The packaging industry emerged like no other, advancing technology and equipment while providing safe food to households.  The cans were unsung heroes when it came to getting food to troops at war, not only did they keep the food fresh, they could survive the blows encountered in battle.  Everything from cigarettes to meat came in a can and the graphics that were created for these food brands are so wonderful.  I imagine the advertising men of the times were in their heyday competing to design the most eye-catching product package for the consumer.
