This painting is a tribute to the days when our lives were simpler. When people worked hard to achieve the American dream, spent time with family, knew their neighbors, and everyone loved the game and the boys of summer. Americans still love baseball, but our lives are moving at a very different pace as we try to juggle it all.
I painted this work while quarantined during the global pandemic, in a time when our nation is politically divided, we are isolated from our families, and there may be no baseball season this year. All that we know hangs in balance as we wait for things to normalize. Hopefully, we will emerge to appreciate that simpler time and take time to enjoy all the things most important to us.
