I was in Santa Fe visiting one of my favorite antique collectors and I fell in love with these pots from Morocco. They are exquisite examples of how beautiful utilitarian simplicity can be. Moroccan Pottery with traditional designs influenced by Berber and Islamic art comes from the Tafilalt area and is one of the real treasures of the souks marketplace. The word Tafilalt is an Amazigh word for “jug” which specifically refers to a pottery jar used to store water or other goods. These water jugs were a necessity to transport water in Morocco’s desert climate.
