When I found this French saucier I knew it would find its way into a painting, what I didn’t know was that I would paint it twice because it was such fun (the other painting is titled Violas).  The blue floral pattern depicts the iris flower and is different on the front and back, so this painting shows the other side.  I wanted the subject to represent the spring season. Dandelions were in full glory, and paired with the bird eggs, Springtime was the perfect title.  The shot of aqua blue the eggs add to the composition is a refreshing counterpoint to the bright yellow dandelions.
