When I found this French saucier I knew it would find its way into a painting.  The blue floral pattern depicts the iris flower and is different on the front and back.  At the time, I was planting Violas because they are hearty enough to endure the cold spring nights of Minnesota and I thought the delicate flowers would be perfect in this small bowl.

My great-grandmother hand crocheted the linens and they have been passed down through the generations.  It is an art form of a different era, one I appreciated enough to include it in this work.
